4th Annual Critical Inquiry & Citizenship Colloquium

Join us for an evening with Dr. Robert George and Dr. Cornel West, two of the leading public intellectuals in the U.S. Despite their different political views, Dr. George and Dr. West are good friends who are committed to constructive dialogue. Their presentation, entitled “The Pursuit of Truth and the Bond of Friendship,” will help us reflect on American society, engaged citizenship, and how we can move forward together.

Dr. George is the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University and director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions, as well as a nationally recognized scholar of constitutional law, political philosophy and the role of faith in public life.

Dr. West serves as the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Chair at Union Theological Seminary and is widely known for his work on democracy and justice, as well as his lifelong commitment to advancing the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Together, they co-authored “Truth Matters: A Dialogue on Fruitful Disagreement in an Age of Division,” published in January 2025.

There will be a book signing after their presentation.

Generously supported by Rosemarie and the late Dean Buntrock, the Critical Inquiry & Citizenship Colloquium is designed to promote civil discourse and deep reflection with the goal of enhancing our ability to think critically and communicate persuasively as citizens of a pluralistic society.
